Another stellar Napa example of a hallmark Cab. $135 but so worth it. Age this one. Thank me in 2025, and remember to please have horseradish on the ready with that seared lamb when we pop it open together. Clinton Stark, The Stark Insider 2009 BACCHANAL -- A big red blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. The wine opens with aromas of dark cherry, plum and dark berries with notes of leather and cocoa. On the palate expect flavors of dark cherry, raspberry and plum with lots of dark spice and hints of white pepper. The tannins are well defined and notes of espresso add complexity to the finish. Wine of exceptional merit, SANTE GOLD STAR Santé Magazine The 2007 MARTIN ESTATE RESERVE is a deeply fruity, classically Rutherford Cabernet, with intense aromas of darkly ripe cherry, blackberry and sweet pomegranate and lots of complex baking spice, humidor and terroir scents. It is juicy-rich, but beautifully focused on the palate, and hides 5-10 years of tannic backbone beneath a lingering wave of sweet cherry, pomegranate, earth, vanilla and tobacconist-shop spice flavors. A big wine, much like a great 60s era BV Reserve, it should ultimately prove a classic Rutherford Cab, if permitted the cellar time. Very sweet and pure, with honey, apricot jam, pineapple crème brûlée and vanilla custard flavors. Utterly delicious.
